Genova University Press (GUP) is part of the Italian Publishers Association (AIE) and is the publishing brand of the University of Genoa, established in 2010 with the aim of promoting and disseminating publications considered significant and representative of the University’s commitment to study, research, and scientific communication.

The creation of a university publishing brand is part of a renewed interest in university presses in Italy, promoted by the Italian University Press Coordination (UPI), of which GUP has been a member since 2015.

The adoption of a dedicated publishing brand allows the University to distinguish its scientific production over time, facilitates dissemination, and ensures quality.

It also ensures the retention of copyright for academic outputs and the ownership of the series in which the works are published.

GUP activities are coordinated by an Editorial Board appointed by the Rector, which ensures the application of an external peer-review process, in line with the Memorandum of Understanding on scientific criteria of UPI.

Before publication, the Board promotes the inclusion of new series within three editorial lines: Research, Teaching, and Outreach.

For the printing of volumes, GUP collaborates with the University Print Center and external printers that comply with environmental and social sustainability criteria.

In line with the UniGe sustainability strategy, Genova University Press promotes environmental and inclusion-related values also in its printed publications.

GUP has established a collaboration with Casalini Libri and Casalini Digital Division for the promotion, distribution, and sale of its publications.

These partners ensure national distribution to private and public institutions as well as international availability.

Genova University Press participates in major publishing fairs:

GUP also supports authors in organizing book presentations.
