As its primary objective, Genova University Press supports and enhances the University's scholarly output from an editorial standpoint, promoting and disseminating research, educational innovation, public engagement, community outreach, and the University's public image. For its publishing activities, it collaborates with organisations whose aims are coherent with its own mission.
Within the limits set by university regulations, GUP participates in coordination and cooperation initiatives among Italian university presses (UPI – University Press Italiane). The aim is to disseminate scientific knowledge, adopt shared quality assessment protocols for publications, and achieve more effective promotional and distribution reach.
Regarding strategic objectives and open-access policies, GUP provides maximum visibility to established research areas, thereby strengthening the profile of its publications. At least once a year, it meets with series editors to agree on the editorial programme for the current year. All publications are listed in the online catalogue.
GUP uses a registered identifying logo, alongside the University seal, in communications related to its publishing activities and in the graphic design of its publications. It has dedicated annual budget allocations approved by the Board of Directors and established within the University's financial planning framework, in support of the dissemination of the University's scientific, educational and third-mission activities. It also generates revenue from its own commercial activities, as well as any funds provided by other University units or by public or private bodies.
The Scientific-Editorial Committee, appointed by the Rector, ensures the academic and educational quality of the University's publications and collaborates with the relevant office identified in the University's administrative and technical organisation.
