The Our Planet shows: “Climate Change 2013: The Physical Science Basis” presents clear and robust conclusions in a global assessment of climate change science. Not the least of which is that the science now shows with 95 percent certainty that human activity is the dominant cause of observed warming since the mid-20th century… Each of the last three decades has been successively warmer at the Earth’s surface than any preceding decade since 1850.” (Climate Change 2013 The Physical Science Basis – IPCC Report, Cambridge University Press, 2013) Olgyay writes: “The desirable procedure would be to work with, not against, the forces of nature and to make use of their potentialities to create better living conditions… We will do well to study the broad climate layout, then apply the findings, through a specific region, to a specific structure. And one must be ever alert to regional variations” (V. Olygay, Design with Climate, Princenton Univerity Press, 1963).
The “Paris Agreement” aims: Article2-1 “This Agreement, in enhancing the implementation of the Convention, including its objective, aims to strengthen the global response to the threat of climate change, in the context of sustainable development…” (13nd November 2015). The designers, architects and engineers, must show a new way to build more sustainable, they must write new (or re-write old) regulations and must aims new (or re-use old) instruments to preserve Our Planet. The aim is to collect new ideas and new proposals to animate the debate on sustainability, intended as a part of the recently history of the design discipline a sort of a second level of rationalism.
